About the Atlantic Contemplative Centre

Our vision is that the people, organizations, and institutions of Atlantic Canada will have full access to the benefits of contemplative and mindfulness practices.

A little about us

The Atlantic Contemplative Centre (ACC) was formed in 2010 to bring together people in Atlantic Canada who use applied mindfulness in their professional work.

There are now over sixty faculty members working in healthcare, education, arts, sports, business, justice, science, and community development. The ACC is directed by James Torbert and is a non-profit charitable organization incorporated in Nova Scotia.

“The present moment is the only time over which we have dominion.”

— Thích Nhất Hạnh

Programs beyond groups

In addition to programs led independently by faculty, ACC has organized open mindfulness groups, healthcare retreats, contemplative compassion training, the annual Gathering of Mindful Professionals (November), and the annual Mindfulness and Society lecture (May).

Current sponsored programs are also announced through news updates; this homepage will surface them in the Events section as they are confirmed.
